Anna Djambuliovna Chakvetadze (Russian: Анна Джамбулиевна Чакветадзе; Georgian: ანა ჯამბულის ასული ჩაკვეტაძე; born 5 March 1987) is a retired Russian professional tennis player who was born to a Georgian father and a Russian mother.[1] On 10 September 2007, she reached her career-high professional singles ranking of world no. 5. She has won eight WTA singles titles and appeared in the 2007 US Open semifinals. She was also a quarterfinalist at the 2007 Australian Open and the 2007 French Open. She announced her retirement on 11 September 2013, due to a persisting back injury. She is currently a commentator on Eurosport channel.[2]
She began playing tennis at the age of eight after being introduced to the sport by her mother, Natalia. She speaks both Russian and English.
